Kem Berdikari

On the 16th of January, 33 students from SMK Bandar Sunway went on a 3-day camp organized by the Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway and the Interact Club of SMK Bandar Sunway. The camp held at Camar Rimba, Taman Pertanian Malaysia. The purpose of the camp was to instill racial harmony, as well as giving these students a chance to have fun and learn.

Along with 2 teachers and 6 Interact Club members, the students left the school at 2.45PM and headed to Camar Rimba by bus. Upon arrival, an opening speech was given by Dr Dieter Esser, the president of Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway. After that, a briefing was given by Rotarians Mr Thangaraj and Mr Maniraja. The students were divided into their respective dorms and played an outdoor game.After dinner, a motivation session was conducted by Mr Julian Leicester, a trainer for National Service. This marks the end of day 1.

Day 2 started with an early morning exercise session. Mr Julian Leicester then conducted a workshop on Character Building. After lunch, the students were lucky to have Mr Anant Kasibhatia to conduct a workshop on memory skills. Mr Anant is an international speaker and is an expert in memory skills.

In the evening, the students went for Flying Fox conducted by certified instructors at Camar Rimba. The next activity was a session conducted by Rotarian Thangaraj, titled Effective Communication. This marks the end of day 2.

The first activity for day 3 was a morning exercise session. After breakfast, the students went for Explorace, where they are divided into teams and had to complete tasks at checkpoints around the Taman Pertanian. After that, the students packed their bags and joined the closing ceremony.

Every student received a t-shirt and exercise books, while the winning team got an extra collared t-shirt. The camp closed successfully and everyone headed home around 1PM. Overall, all the costs were covered by the Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway. Endless thanks to all the Rotarians for their unwavering support.

First Project of 2009

What's up, people =D Sorry for the very late updated. Well we just had a Kem Berdikari organised for 33 lucky kids. All of them are Form 2 students from SMK Bandar Sunway. The camp was held from 16th to 18th January at Camar Rimba, Taman Pertanian Rimba. 6 Interactors followed as facilitators. Will be updating on the activites and pictures soon. Don't miss it =)
